Registration forms may be sent by email to home-arts-registration@countryfest.com and payment can be made by eTransfer (see the Registration tab on the website). Alternatively, you can bring your registration form(s) to the office before or on Monday, July 15, 2024.

ENTRY FEE: $1.00 per class
REGISTRATION FORM & PAYMENT DEADLINE: Monday, July 15, 2024

PRIZES: First = $5*; Second = $3; Third = $2 – Special prizes awarded in the theme classes are at the judges' discretion (*$1 of the 1st prize purse has been donated by the Maple Ridge Garden Club.)

Home Arts & Garden Rules

  1. EACH EXHIBITOR MUST HAVE THEIR OWN REGISTRATION FORM
  2. REGISTRATION FORMS AND PAYMENT DEADLINE IS Monday, July 15, 2024
  3. NO NEW ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY THAT ARTICLES ARE BROUGHT INTO THE FAIR THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REGISTERED AS OF THE JULY 15th DEADLINE. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PURCHASED BLANK TAGS, CLASS INFORMATION MAY BE COMPLETED AT TIME ENTRIES ARE DROPPED OFF.
  4. ONE ENTRY PER CLASS PER PERSON.
  5. ALL ENTRIES MUST NOT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY ENTERED IN MAPLE RIDGE FAIR/COUNTRY FEST.
  6. ALL ENTRIES ARE LEFT AT EXHIBITOR’S OWN RISK
  7. EXHIBITS MUST BE THE WORK OF THE EXHIBITOR. (Persons who earn 50% or more of their income from the sales of garden/produce are not permitted to enter those classes).

2024 Entry drop off and pick up dates to remember:

Tuesday, July 23rd: Photography, Scrapbooking, Needlework, Arts, Crafts & Hobbies entries in between 4pm & 8pm
Thursday, July 25th: Home Cooking and Garden Produce entries in between 4pm & 8pm
Friday, July 26th: Home Cooking and Garden Produce entries in between 10am & noon
Monday, July 29th: Pick up entries in between 4pm & 7pm

To avoid extra workload for volunteers we need everyone to pick up their articles after the fair. We need prior written permission for those who are unable to pick up their articles or if you are unable to have someone come and pick them up for you. We have limited time having the building and there will be lack of security in the building if articles are left. Note: No special prizes will be mailed to winners.

Theme Class — “FUN AND GAMES"

This year, the theme of the Home Arts and Garden building is “FUN AND GAMES". Using  your creativity, imagination and decorative skills, show us your vision using the “FUN AND GAMES” theme. This theme allows you to fun and let your imagination go wild. You are permitted to use any interpretation of the theme you would like.

DIVISION RULES (Please see general rules at the beginning of Prize Book)

DIVISION 1 - Vegetables, Culinary Herbs, Fruits & Berries, and Cut Blooms.
DIVISION 2 - Decorative Flowers and Potted Plants
DIVISION 3 - Junior Garden

  1. EXHIBITORS IN DIVISION 1 MUST GROW EXHIBITS - Vegetables, Culinary Herbs, Fruits & Berries, and Cut Blooms.
  2. EXHIBITORS IN DIVISION 2 - DECORATIVE FLOWERS DO NOT HAVE TO GROW THE FLOWERS. Some containers will be available for cut blooms.
  3. EXHIBITORS IN ALL DIVISIONS WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE BLANK ENTRIES/TAGS IN ADVANCE. Blank tags allow the exhibitor to choose classes based on availability of garden crops. No tags are to be purchased after entry deadline.
  4. FOR DIVISION 1, NO MORE THAN ONE PERSON CAN EXHIBIT FROM THE SAME GARDEN IN THE SAME CLASS. This does not apply to Division 2 or 3.
  5. NO LATE ENTRIES ALLOWED. Exhibitors are expected to attach their own tags to their entries.
  6. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR UNUSED TAGS.

Division 1 - Vegetables, Culinary Herbs, Fruits & Berries, and Cut Blooms

DEFINITIONS:

AV – Any variety
AOV - Any other variety
Bloom – fine powdery or waxy substance when referring to fruits and vegetables
Bloom - an individual flower only when referring to cut blooms
Spike - thick upright stem carrying several blooms
CVA - colour variation allowed unless specified
Named - variety must be named

DEFINITIONS:

Arrangement - consists of fresh cut material in a container, with a base if necessary, may include accessories. Foliage optional.
Composition - may consist of dried, weathered or treated plant materials and/or accessories.

Potted Plants

The exhibitor must own these plants for at least four months prior to Country Fest dates. Plants should be pest free and not have any other plants in the same pot except for the basket or dish gardens and have not previously been entered in Country Fest.
