- NO NEW ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY THAT ARTICLES ARE BROUGHT INTO THE FAIR THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REGISTERED AS OF THE JULY 15th DEADLINE. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PURCHASED BLANK TAGS, CLASS INFORMATION MAY BE COMPLETED AT TIME ENTRIES ARE DROPPED OFF.
- ONE ENTRY PER CLASS PER PERSON.
- ALL ENTRIES MUST NOT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY ENTERED IN MAPLE RIDGE FAIR/COUNTRY FEST.
- ALL ENTRIES ARE LEFT AT EXHIBITOR’S OWN RISK
2024 Entry drop off and pick up dates to remember:
Tuesday, July 23rd: Photography, Scrapbooking, Needlework, Arts, Crafts & Hobbies entries in between 4pm & 8pm
Thursday, July 25th: Home Cooking and Garden Produce entries in between 4pm & 8pm
Friday, July 26th: Home Cooking and Garden Produce entries in between 10am & noon
Monday, July 29th: Pick up entries in between 4pm & 7pm
To avoid extra workload for volunteers we need everyone to pick up their articles after the fair. We need prior written permission for those who are unable to pick up their articles or if you are unable to have someone come and pick them up for you. We have limited time having the building and there will be lack of security in the building if articles are left. Note: No special prizes will be mailed to winners.
Theme Class — “FUN AND GAMES"
This year, the theme of the Home Arts and Garden building is “FUN AND GAMES". Using your creativity, imagination and decorative skills, show us your vision using the “FUN AND GAMES” theme. This theme allows you to fun and let your imagination go wild. You are permitted to use any interpretation of the theme you would like.
NEEDLEWORK & TEXTILES RULES (Please see general rules at the beginning of Prize Book)
- Please provide dimensions of all quilts on the entry form.
- All quilts must arrive clean, undamaged and odor free.
- We reserve the right to change an item's class where deemed appropriate.
- Pre-Teens and Teens are encouraged to enter all regular classes (not eligible for lower age class
- Exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor, except for Groups and Organizations Classes and as per class entered (e.g. Quilt top is made by exhibitor and industrial long-arm quilted by self or other, indicated with *).
- Persons who earn 50% or more of their income from the sales of needlework / quilting / textiles are not permitted to enter those classes.
- All decisions by judges are final.
JUDGING SPECIFICATIONS - QUILTING & SEWING
NOTE: Quilts must consist of at least 3 layers and be quilted by hand, home machine or industrial long arm, as
per class entered.
- Neatness of seams and seam finishing
- Matching of collars, buttons, etc.
- Zippers lying flat and neat
- Creativity and design of work
- Generally pleasing overall
- All knots hidden inside work
- Even Stitches
- Appliqué stitches hidden
- Amount of quilting
- Colour co-ordination
